course description
This course is designed to improve your understanding of the rapid nature of defensive shooting engagements. It provides you with the knowledge and skills needed to better prepare for, and manage these high-stress situations, ensuring you can effectively defend yourself while adhering to the legal requirements surrounding self-defense.
Most self-defense shooting incidents occur without warning. As a result, you will often find yourself reacting to a situation rather than initiating it, which inherently places you behind the attacker’s timeline. The course emphasizes the importance of recognizing this reality and developing techniques to quickly assess, decide, and act under pressure.
Understanding the legal boundaries of defensive shooting is crucial. The course will guide you through the laws that govern self-defense, ensuring you know how to justify your actions and stay within the confines of the law during and after an engagement.
In addition to tactical skills, the course covers the anatomical effects of a gunshot wound on your intended threat. This knowledge is essential, as the physiological response of a person who has been shot can significantly influence the remainder of the engagement. Understanding these effects can help you make informed decisions in the heat of the moment and maintain control of the situation.
A significant component of the course focuses on defensive shooting engagements from a concealed carry platform, inside a vehicle. These scenarios present unique challenges, including limited mobility, restricted access to your firearm, and the need to manage environmental obstacles. You’ll learn practical techniques to draw, engage, and defend yourself effectively in these confined spaces, improving your reaction time and preparedness for unexpected threats, that may not always come from in front of your vehicle.
The course covers:
- Concealed carry platforms (appendix, hip, pocket-carry, bag-carry)
- Moving & shooting
