course description
Reacting to and/or the initiation of, a contact, from a vehicle platform, in a busy street-scene environment is, quite simply, a bad day out.
- If you can’t drive through or reverse out – what do you do?
- Where do you wear/keep your firearm(s) in your vehicle? Can you get to them quickly?
- What state of readiness is/are your firearm(s) kept in? Condition 0 – 4?
- If you have to bail from your vehicle…do you know how/when to do that?
- Who else might be in the vehicle that you are responsible for?
- Are you able to draw your firearm and fight from the confines of your vehicle?
- What kit/equipment, in your vehicle do you need to take with you? Who grabs it?
- Can you even get your doors open, due to other road users?
- What do you do on a breach of your vehicle? Can you fight from a seated position?
- How do you deal with scared, frantic, confused and/or hostile 3rd parties, during the extraction from your vehicle?
- Can you bluff your way out of it using inter-personal skills?
- Is there a need to maintain a cover story? How does that effect your decision making?
- During a vehicle exit/extraction, how do you identify your other team members? How do other “friendly forces” identify you?
These are all factors that affect HOW you might respond and WHAT options are available to you – a one-size-fits-all approach rarely works and, because of that, we have designed this course to specifically address the confusion and chaos of being in an attack on you, whilst mobile, irrespective of whether it’s a planned attack or an opportunistic attack.
Reacting to a contact IN your vehicle is entirely different from initiating a contact FROM your vehicle – that “reaction” time (or lack of it) is crucial to everything else that happens afterwards.
